THON 2009

THON, or the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, raised over $7.49 million to help fight pediatric cancer this year.  Although fundraising goes the whole year, it culminates with one weekend in February where over 700 students dance for 46 straight hours- no sleeping, no sitting- to show support for children with cancer.

It’s really a fantastic experience, and something that’s hard to explain without actually experiencing it.  If you click on the photo above, you can see some of the other pictures I took this past THON weekend, including some of the dancers playing with the kids.  Also, I’ve included the promo video for THON 2009 below.

While I had a blast this year on the OPPeration committee, I’m disappointed that I’m not going to be able to attend next year while I’m abroad (assuming I get accepted).  Here’s to breaking $8 million next year!
